PACE dose adjustment calculator

This figure shows the dose adjustments calculated to minimize orchard-to-orchard variation of deposit for a range of different UK pome fruit orchards across the full growing season. These dose adjustments apply to orchard-spraying-products that give a single label dose for all applications. The four links below take you to the different PACE calculators developed since 2008.

• V1 - The original dose adjustment calculator was developed in 2008 to demonstrate PACE dose adjustments for use with different European methods of dose expression. This version included sprayer operational adjustments for tank concentration and pump pressure.
• V2 - In 2009 the European AgroChemical Industry agreed to harmonize dose expression for efficacy of registered pesticides based on Leaf-Wall-Area (LWA) dosage concepts. In response to this the PACE dose adjustment calculator was developed to account for the combined constraints of the statutory dose-rate for safe product use (i.e. the maximum dose per ha of ground area) and the dose-rate for product efficacy (i.e. dose per unit LWA). In this version cookies were used to automatically store local input data.
• V3 - This version included updates in response to grower feed-back on V2. The need for orchard structure assessment after the pre-blossom growth-stage was reduced by introducing a simple orchard growth model. The output summary table could then be easily expanded for the full growing season using only pre-blossom orchard assessment data and selected growth-rates (default="mean" from previous estimates based on LiDAR recordings ). The output summary table was also modified to show: the PACE inputs, the calculated dose adjustment and the potential for under-dosing at the maximum label dose.
• V4 - The current updated version can import/export data to/from text files using dedicated copy and paste boxes.
